I was fortunate enough to teach with Susan for 34 years at BES and BMS. She was straightforward and didn't want the "fluff" as math was her major. As Language arts, I needed the extra to compliment our classes! We were a team for years. And as she fought her battle with cancer, it became impossible for her to continue helping those students who missed a concept somewhere or just needed to brush up on skills. She supported the school and went to bat for students, who continually saw improvement at the end of each year. Our community was lucky to have her in our schools, and she is definitely missed. We spent her last coherent day together talking about past students and teachers.
