Jerry was my first cousin and when he married Scarlet "Peggy" I was just old enough to be enchanted with the young couple. I remember getting a postcard from them all the way from Switzerland once. While I was in High School, I was welcomed into their beautiful home in Wilson on several ocasions when visiting Kay and Diane at ACC. (I was not allowed to sleep in the dorm on a Sunday Night.) I'll never forget the morning the phone call came with terrible news and hearing my daddy's end of the conversation and thinking that something so horrible simply could not happen to my special favorite couple. In a family as large as my Grandpa and Grandma Sorrell's family (over 50 grandchildren), I knew of many cousins who died, most were in car accidents, but none affected me so personally as the passing of Jerry Miller and that tiny baby. I just had to post my feelings when I realized that no one else has visited this page yet. Jerry was certainly very special to me and to many others.

JERRY WAS MY OLDEST BROTHER. HE SUPPORTED ME IN EVERY THING I DID. I STILL MISS HIM SO MUCH TODAY. IT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY HE AND HIS SON HAD TO LEAVE AT SUCH A EARLY AGE. I REMEMBER THAT HE BROUGHT ME MY FOOTBALL SHOES WHEN I WAS IN THE 9TH GRADE. I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY AND DADDY SAID THAT I WAS TO LITTLE TO PLAY FOOTBALL. I WAS IN MOREHEAD CITY AT MY FIRST TEACHING JOB, WHEN I GOT THE CALL THAT HE AND HIS FAIMLY HAD BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT. HE WAS 29 YEARS OLD AND HIS SON WAS 6 MONTHS. I AM 66 AND HAVE A GRANDDAUGHTER 6 MONTHS. IT DOES'T SEEM FAIR.
