Sharon Barbour (Heeden) (1961)

Alfred Max Barbour

01/05/1940 ~ 11/30/1993

Max married Brenda Sue Clifton from the Cleveland School Community of Johnston County.

They had two sons:
David Max Barbour, born 1960
Cabot Reece Barbour, born 1963

Max was employed by the North Carolina Department of Corrections. He began his career as a Correctional Officer, advancing through the system to achieve the position of Superintendent of Polk Youth Center, and Superintendent of the Women's Correctional Center. He was serving as Custody Coordinator at the time of his retirement.

Max died at the age of 53 from complications related to the treatment of severe rheumatoid arthritis. In addition to his two beloved sons and daughters-in-law, his survivors now include eight grandchildren. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with great passion and was totally devoted to all of his family. His absence remains a painful void to all of us who loved him.
