Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, special friend, and a wonderful brother to Jimmie, Cathy, and me. I had 57 precious years with him and never expected to lose him at such a young age. I will miss him forever. Joyce Jernigan Matthews

Janice Stewart (Lambert) (1969)
I grew up with Joyce and Larry and know that Larry was always a good person and always easy going. Larry used to hang around with us when he was younger but as we grew older and we started to cruise we did not want Joyce's younger brother with us when trying to meet guys.When I was a junior in high school Larry and his cousin Donald would often stop by and we would sit around and chat and just talk as friends.
I did not see Larry for a long time and we went separate ways but did reconnect with Joyce and learned of Larry's being sick. I heard that he had a wonderful family and when his condition worsened that his family took such good care of him and gave him support and encouragement.
From stories that I heard from people that knew him later in life it seemed that he remained the good natured and fun loving person that I remember from younger years.
I will always remember Larry as a nice and sincere person and I feel honored that I knew him and grew up being around someone with his values.
