I remember Douglas well..He was an excellent musician not only on the piano and organ but in school on the clarinet then oboe and baritone sax in jazz ensemble not to mention a leading practitioner in his chosen field He was also in the junior play at Benson High and I will always remember the fact that he played the doctor that was the one that "did us all in".according to everyone that was involved in the play..I played the janitor and Ricky Young was the owner of the mortuary where the doctor would frequent..Douglas will be missed by everyone and remembered well for his many accomplishments and talents

Doug was a wonderful brother. Randy, Dan, Shelby and I will miss him forever. He would have so loved this reunion!! His favorite thing was telling stories about BHS. Randy, PD, Jerry, Mike, Gary, Harry ,Connie Sue and so many more come to mind. He was known around the world in the Scientific community for his work, but to us all he was just Doug.

He really liked to tell how Randy and I left him stranded at Williams Lake one Sat night. He was 14 and had the car keys and the Chevy station wagon and of course he drove home and even cruised main at midnight!!

I don't know the exact day I met Doug but from that day on I had a great friend. I saw him in the hospital shortly before he passed and we talked of the great times we had shared when we were young and foolish. I remember riding in the back of the big station wagon either from the Other Eye in Raleigh or the many times from Williams Lake. Playing foosball at the Clifton House and the trips down to Carolina Beach. When Doug died, Kathy,Randy,Dan,Shelby lost a great brother, I lost a good friend and South Johnston High School lost a favorite son.
